AABR covers an area
throughout the Northeast USA. States currently included in our program are: Connecticut, Delaware,
Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York,
Pennsylvania, Rhode
Island and Vermont.
Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come,
first served basis.
And not all applicant's are suitable for matching with our
"available dogs".
On average, it takes between 1 week and 3 months for an
approved applicant to adopt a Rescue Boxer, depending on
your personal circumstances and flexibility.
For example;
If you are looking for a young female, who is good with
other dogs, cats, and small kids, please know that yours
will be a hard application to fill.
Matching Boxers
suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs,
cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the
application review time and adoption time.
We hope you
feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
We need help to meet the needs of our Rescue Dogs through out the
Adopt A Boxer Rescue region.
Please watch for our Next Urgent Need:
We
need collars, leashes, dog toys and supplies. All
donations will be greatly appreciated!

Adopt A Boxer Rescue - proud and grateful recipients of a
grant from the ASPCA
AABR recently received a grant from the ASPCA Philly RAP
for $2,050. Thanks to the hard work and good relationship of AABR
Philadelphia, PA area volunteer Colleen Kane, this grant will help AABR
rescue and care for many of the dogs coming for the Philly area.
Philadelphia, PA is one of the ASPCA's targeted Mission
Orange Sites. You can read more about it by clicking on the link below:
We at
AABR, believe that a Boxer is just about the perfect
friend. However, he or she will demand a lot from
you. They'll rely on you for nearly everything; food,
water, shelter, protection, training, exercise, grooming, veterinary
care, and of course love and companionship. While it is important to choose the right
Boxer for your needs, it is equally important to ensure that you
can meet theirs. You must prepare for their arrival, and
make them a well-mannered and welcome member of your
community.
The responsibilities of being a guardian of any dog are great,
but the love and friendship you'll receive in return is
priceless.
AABR is spending hundreds of dollars a day
just to maintain the dogs we have with food and boarding fees, not to
mention the medical costs...
You can help by sponsoring a dog. $10 pays for 1 dog for 1 day at
our least expensive kennels. We need your help now!
Another way to help is if you have an
occasion coming up where friends and family would be giving gifts, ask
them to donate the cost of the gifts to the boxers! It will save a dogs life,
and if you really don't need another shirt or tie from Aunt Bess, why
stuff it in the closet.
And if you have adopted from AABR in
the past, and have the room for just one more, please consider fostering.
Contact the volunteer that worked with you, and tell them you want to
help. Thank You!
Unable to Adopt?
Sponsor A Boxer!
We know a lot of
people love Boxers and would love to adopt another, but can’t for a
variety of reasons. If you are unable to adopt or
foster, then please consider sponsoring a Boxer that touches your heart. You probably have a favorite dog on our web site--there are so many
to choose from!Your donation helps pay for food,
vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm preventative and other costly
medical tests, such
as x-rays, blood work, ultrasounds, biopsies and heartworm treatments. We are stretching our resources to accommodate the increased need
and increased expenses -- now you can help by sponsoring one of our Boxers
while they wait for a forever home.Your sponsorship
can be a one time gift or a monthly contribution. Please know
that every little bit counts and donations of all sizes are greatly
appreciated.
Sponsoring a boxer
is a great way to honor your own dog or to serve as a memorial of a dearly
missed boxer. They also make wonderful gifts for
holidays or milestones like birthdays, weddings, anniversaries,
graduations. If you donate $50 or more to sponsor a
dog, your name will be listed as a Sponsor on that dog’s page. Please don't
hesitate to be a second sponsor if a dog already has one sponsor.
Many of these Boxers have so many medical needs and they need all the
extra help we can get from loving, caring people like you!

Life has taken a drastic turn for BB. One moment she is a healthy happy go lucky pup living as part of her family, the next she is lying broken in a hospital in so much pain she is under constant sedation. BB was hit by a school bus and sadly the driver did not even look back, it was only because a child saw what happened and ran for help that BB survived this far. The cost of the surgery was estimated at $6000, far more than her owners could manage and they were faced with surrendering her to rescue to save her life. BB now needs the help of her AABR family and friends to get her back in one piece, she has multiple fractures and she only has us to count on.
BB's a very sweet girl, just 7 months old and should heal well with some help from each of us. If you'd like to send her a little financial band aid and a get well message, please use Paypal or mail a check, every little bit helps however small and we can all put BB together again. If you're interested in fostering or adopting this brave little girl, please contact us to find out about the convalescing care she'll need in the coming 8 weeks. It would be nice for her to know there's a warm home to go to when she leaves hospital.
Sponsor BB today!!

Spotlight on:
ROCKY
10/31/09
Rocky Balboa always came out on top. When the chips were down, when the future looked grim, Rocky Balboa tightened his gloves and went to work. And because he had such a wonderful group of supporters, he always won.
Our Rocky might not be so lucky. After his family lost their home to a fire, Rocky was moved to a friend's backyard where he lived and grew emaciated for 3 months. The small growth he had at the time of the fire grew and grew. By the time his owner surrendered Rocky to a kill shelter in Philly, the mast cell tumor was very large, and Rocky's chances were quite small.
We are putting meat on Rocky's bones, but he's got a Grade 2 tumor. The cancer has spread to his lymph nodes. But just when you think the news can't get any worse, here comes the good news: there is treatment. It's only Grade 2. You can save him.
Rocky Balboa was a charming character, great with people, a winning personality, somebody you want to win and above all a fighter against the odds. So is our Rocky. He has survived what a lot of dogs couldn't and come through it without an angry bone in his body. He's not just another bum from the neighborhood. But his treatment is expensive, around $5000 for a course of radiation that could put Rocky back at the top of his game. He needs people in his corner. He needs an Adrian, a Paulie to love and support him, and he needs a Mickey to give him hope. He needs help, and you can do it, as you've done it in the past. You've always been there for our special needs dogs. Will you show up for Rocky? Can you go the distance with him?

Baxter came to AABR in dire need
of a new home, but Baxter’s story doesn’t end there. Baxter has a
mast cell tumor that was left untreated by his previous owner - a
Grade II Mast Cell tumor that could cost him his leg. That
didn’t stop AABR from rescuing him, for he is truly amazing. Baxter is a
living example of forgiveness, pure love and joy.He is a
gentle soul who loves everyone and everything. Baxter was seen by a
Veterinary
Oncologist who determined that the tumor could not be surgically
removed at this time due to its large size and location. Thankfully
Baxter was determined to be a good candidate for chemotherapy, so we are
proceeding with that course of treatment. We are all praying
for him. AABR is doing everything possible for Baxter and he is worth
every penny, but we desperately need your help. Please Sponsor Baxter by making a donation to help us pay
for his medical care.Baxter thanks you with lots of boxer hugs
and kisses!

Want to really "rescue" a boxer?
Please, if you our considering
adoption, and you really want to "rescue" a boxer, start your search at
the bottom of the available dogs section (white background with paw
prints). There are some great dogs there and they have been with
us the longest. (Please don't go to the
yellow section below the available dogs... These dogs have already been
adopted and found their forever homes! Yeah!)
We at AABR don't shy from challenges and hope that
you support us in our endeavor. Whether they are dogs with medical
issues or behavior challenges, by your support you obviously agree with
our mission to give each dog a second chance. We have many
adoption applications requesting the perfect boxer. But if per
chance you are up to rescuing a boxer that will require a little extra
TLC, or maybe requires a strong leader to bring out the best in it,
please contact us, mention that you read this, and let us know you are
interested in rescuing one of our special boxers.
And if per chance you yourself are starting to show a
little gray in your hair or mustache, maybe you can relate to some of
our slightly graying boxers. It's the rare individual today that
can see the gold in those senior dogs that through no fault of their own
are in need of a forever home. Those individuals who have adopted
our older boxers have a special knowledge of the rewards that only
rescuing an older boxer brings. And consider what would happen to
your older boxer should you not be able to care for them. You
would want some good home to step up and care for them... Wouldn't you?
Almost any question that you may have
about the adoption process,
surrendering a dog, and most other matters, can
be answered by following the links found in our
Site Directory to the left.
An AABR volunteer's day normally includes all the
same tasks and responsibilities that your day has. And then
typically includes reviewing apps, calling references, doing home visits,
caring for and working with foster dogs, rescuing dogs from shelters and
owner surrenders, transporting dogs to safety and/or vet exams, fund
raising, etc..
If we could stop getting half the emails we get
asking questions like "What is the adoption process?" or "I live in
Smalltown, PA. Do you cover my
area?",
we would have more time to do what has to get done.
If the answer to your email can be found by looking
in our site directory, please do not anticipate a response.
Thank you, and thank you for helping us rescue the
dogs.
Taking an easy dog from
someone who has to move and rehoming him/her is not a huge challenge. The
challenge is transporting and caring for dogs like Marshall, Dude, and
Hutch, Uma, Lucy and now Stella. The challenge is finding the funds to
help the dogs in need of medical care.
That¹s where YOU come in.
We need donations to cover the medical bills for these special dogs. Remember we
get no public or private funding. We rely on adoption fees and your
donations to cover our expenses.

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES NOW!
Adopt A Boxer Rescue is in
trouble and we need your help right now. We need foster
homes immediately. We have always counted on you to
help us, especially when there is an emergency and we're
counting on you again.
Over this past summer,
we've been asked to save the lives of many boxers and
we've been living up to our mission to never say no to a
dog in need. But we are full to capacity - our foster
homes have been doubling up, the kennels that we use are
full to capacity and we have no place else to turn. We
have been asked by search and rescue groups if we can
help with survivors of Katrina - how can we say no - how
can you? If you have ever thought about fostering, if
you want to show your support to this breed that we so
love, then please, please contact us now. If you have
questions about fostering, ask us - we'll guide you
through the process. If you think you can't do it
because it's too hard to give a dog up, think how much
harder it will be knowing that the shelters are killing
dogs daily because there is no room.
It's really up to each
of us to help - you've been able to count on us, now we
must count on you.
We
have gotten NEW FOSTER HOMES because they saw our Flyers posted around
town!!!!!!

Boxers we rescue arrive without names. Many keep their new rescue names for life.
(Please consider that when submitting a Name :-).
This new program is a fun way to honor a friend, loved one or cherished

And our
